I will note that the program installed fine when I was running mandrake 9.0 and wine
20030115.

OK, that sounds a lot like some regression.
I'll check it out today.
The hidden EULA crap is probably because of some edit control problem, BTW
(--debugmsg +edit).
fixme:ntdll:RtlNtStatusToDosError no mapping for 0001869f
is 99999
is ERROR_UNKNOWN, BTW.
I'll have to add some traces to my Wine tree to track this down, I guess.

Summary: MS Excel viewer crashes wine when attempting to print
file (on certain files only)
Product: Wine
Version: 20030318
Platform: Other
URL: http://www.agecon.ksu.edu/kdhuyvetter/Spreadsheets/cowle
ase.xls
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gdi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: wine(a)alk.org.lu
For certain Excel files, the Microsoft Excel viewer
(http://download.microsoft.com/download/excel2000/Xlviewer/2000/WIN98/EN-US/…)
crashes when attempting to print. For other Excel files, it works just fine.
At the following URL is one example that crashes:
http://www.agecon.ksu.edu/kdhuyvetter/Spreadsheets/cowlease.xls
Here is how to reproduce:
1. Start the xlviewer with the given file:
wine -debugmsg +psdrv xlview l:cowlease.xls
2. Go into print preview (File Menu, print preview)
3. Select setup
4. Click OK in the page setup dialog (no need to change any of the settings.
5. As soon as you click ok, you get a dialog box saying:
> Your file could not be printed due to an error on a on LPR:lp. There are several
possible reasons:
> There may not be enough memory available. Try closing files and programs you
aren't using.
> If you use a network for printing, there may be a problem with the network
connection or the printer driver.
> There may be loose cables or a bad connection between your computer and
printer.
6. Soon after, wine crashes, here is the end of the log (sometimes clicking OK on the
dialog is necessary to produce the crash)

Other spreadsheets than the above examples only lead to the dialog box, but not the
crash. Others yet print just fine. Others print fine, as long as no setting is changed in
page setup, but crash when chosing landscape mode. And I even have seen a case
that crashed when picking landscape mode in the page setup box, but not when
picking landscape in the printer options box.
I use wine-20030302-0.i586.rpm on a SuSE 8.1 box.

I have attached debug messages
The file was quite large and this was all i could export using "save history" in konsole
with unlimited history length. Part of the end of the messages is cut off.
If you know a more appropriate method of exporting the output to a file (> didn't work
either), I can redo the attachment.
Also, I noted that in the install process, the EULA text is missing, although all other text
is visible.

I'm a bit uncertain of what is managed mode and what isn't. I run it in a window
rather than fullscreen, if that's what you mean. (When using EMI's OpenGL
renderer mode switching doesn't work for me, and there are still some stability
and functionality issues with the Direct3D renderer.)
I haven't made any debug traces yet, but I did attempt regression testing.
However, that turned out to be a bit harder than I had first hoped:
2003-01-21 14:16:00 CST works fine.
2003-01-21 14:17:00 CST doesn't respond to keyboard input at all.

2003-01-27 18:35:00 CST responds, but has the "stutter" bug.
Is this helpful at all? There is a distressingly long period of time during
which the bug could have been introduced. As you suggested, disabling keyboard
auto-repeat "fixes" it though.

Reverse this patch and it starts up fine. I can't figure out
what causes this since it looks like a straightforward search
and replace. I did make clean and a full rebuild to be sure.

Well, if EMI works fine in managed mode but not in desktop mode, that is the
problem.
If not, it may be a DInput issue and another bug (check by doing a +dinput trace).

Hi,
WS_MAXIMIZEBOX doesn't seem to work.
I tried to enable just the maximize flag on a dialog, but instead what I got
was wine didn't letting the user change the dialog size at all.
Cesar Mello (mello(a)elipse.com.br) coded a little example which shows this bug,
please see the attachments.

I wonder if this is the same thing that's causing Escape From Monkey Island to
"stutter", as if I was hitting the movement keys rapidly instead of pressing and
holding them down. I know it, too, happened sometime after the 20030115
snapshot. I'll see if I can pinpoint it more closely during the weekend. The
other comments that have been posted here should give me a good start.
