The issue is about pressing the combination of CTRL + sys keys from the right
side numeric keypad of the keyboard:
CTRL-[/]
CTRL-[*]
CTRL-[-]
CTRL-[+]
It can be reproduced in Notepad.
In Notepad under Windows these sequences will do nothing.
In Notepad under Wine these sequences will cause the character to be added to
the document.
Perhaps it is related to 'TranslateAccelerator' API but this is just a guess.
The real problem is with 'Notepad++' where these sequences are the default
accelerators for zoom control so chars are added to the document whenever zoom
is changed.

Gur

Starcraft II is a moving target. After the most recent patch, I was unable to
use wine-staging 2.21, which had been working excellently for me. Wine 3.5 has
trouble: loading the "Hero Attack 3X" (popular) arcade game, the game crashes.
I've attached a "WINEDEBUG=warn+all" log, and can help debug.
I checked "use 32-bit version", and I am using a clean prefix.

bad with black color on the icons. It reminds me of a .NET Framework issue I
experienced before. In the x86 version, the program closes on its own upon
opening.
Another problem I encountered is trying to use the SEGGER JLink program. In the
x86 version, it installs two out of the three required drivers, and in the x64
version, it only installs 1 out of the 3 necessary ones. Besides, I tried in
every way to make it recognize the ttyACM0 port, but I couldn't get it to work
in any way."
"I have a program to use with Java. In the x64 Wine version, it's impossible to
install. Now, in the x86 version, it's complicated but it can be installed.
First, running it is a bit tricky, and after installation, it gives an error if
you don't have IE8 installed."

Some applications tend to reset the X color profile when they start. This
profile is set by xcalib and shouldn't be mindlessly messed with.
I could not determinate a pattern as to which programs do this. It seems games
are especially prone.
A simple test case:
Get xcalib, and use it to set some random color profile, such as with
xcalib -a -gc 5
Get CPU-Z. There is a simple no-installation zip available. Click away the
initial error message and then watch as it resets the profile as it loads

When I alt-tab to get back to the desktop it works fine. But I dont get back

When I try to, I see the game but the screen never changes (no animations,
nothing happens when clicking buttons). The mouse cursor is not catched as
well.
When I disable desktop effects in kde (shift+alt+f12) I can still get back into
the game and it is redrawn correctly.

Dear Wine Staging,
Fedora 41
wine-9.15-1.fc41.x86_64
wine-9.15-1.fc41.i686
I installed a new Brother HL-L2300D printer. At first I used the Brother RPM
and it worked fine. Then I upgrades to the OWN drives. Everything was fine
until I tried to print envelopes. The OWN ppd is missing envelope definitions.
So I removed it and reinstalled the Brother ppd. Install and removal of
printers was done with https://127.0.0.1:631 (CUPS web interface).
The Linux side was completely happy with the process. But Wine was not. I
could not get rid of the OWN drivers in Wine.
Searching my drive for ppd's for the HL-L2300D, I found that Wine was
collecting them. Erasing them and restarting "Envelope Printer" and happy
camping returned.
Please stop collecting ppd's. Only import what CUPS has configured. And
remove what is no longer in CUPS.
By the way, the "Brother_HL_L2300D_series_rn6.en.ppd" was the correct ppd from
Brother. You will note it does not appear on the WINE list.

Summary: Lotus Approach and Word Pro have graphic issues with
high resolution monitors

Lotus Approach N99.8.0208.0800 (Smart Suite)
Fedora 41
Xfce 4.18
screen resolution: 4096x2160 (4k)
Reproduced under:
WineHQ Staging:
wine-staging-10.0.rc3-1.1.x86_64
winehq-staging-10.0.rc3-1.1.x86_64
Wine Staging Fedora repo:
wine-9.15-1.fc41.x86_64
wine-9.15-1.fc41.i686
When Lotus Approach are started from the command line
$ wine approach
$ wine wordpro
Approach menu bars will not paint, but they are there if you remember where to
click. Spreadsheet with flicker/flash when you click on their tabs.
Wordpro will have artifacts of different parts of WorPro's screen. Typing will
sometimes not appear unless you move the window to another part of the screen,
then the typing, which really is there, will appear. But if you move the
windows back where it came from, the typing will disappear again.
But when both are started as a "virtual Desktop", it does not.
$ cd .wine/drive_c/lotus/approach/
$ wine explorer /desktop approach
From Xfce Launcher:
bash -c "cd $HOME/.wine/drive_c/lotus/approach; wine explorer
/desktop=`date +%%H:%%M:%%S`_wine_virtual_desktop_1680x1050,1680x1050
approach.exe"
If would be great to break Approach and Wordpro free of the virtual desktop as
it would allow my accounting spreadsheets to be seen fully without having to
scroll back and forth. This would be wonderful.
Many thanks,
-T

After upgrading to 10.0-rc1 something is broken.
- winefcg starts explorer but that's all. no window.
- "wine COMMAND" starts explorer but again, COMMAND is not started
- click on icon (I'm using virtual desktop) starts application and it runs
- in case of Battle.net.exe, when trying to start game, again, nothing visible
everything worked with wine-staging 9.22 (at least, it started, that I'm
testing after every update)

Summary: wineboot hangs with Z: not equal to root of filesystem

`winecfg`, `wine explorer`, any program at all ... only runs if the Z: is set
to the root of the file-system e.g. `Z:=/`.
In previous versions; this was not required and I don't think this should be
necessary.
Using a virtual desktop, the output of running (say) `winecfg` once Z: is set
to (for example) my home folder `/home/user1234` is a blank virtual desktop
window. Eventually I see in the terminal:
0024:err:environ:run_wineboot boot event wait timed out
If I kill the process for wineboot.exe and explorer.exe; then the virtual
desktop respawns and the program runs. Thus, I imagine the issue lies within
wineboot.
