Summary: Grim Fandango regression: no sound in animated cutscenes
Product: Wine
Version: 20030618
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: torbjorn.e.andersson(a)tietoenator.com
LucasArts's "Grim Fandango" used to work pretty much flawlessly in the 20030508
snapshot and earlier, but in 20030618 and 20030709 I no longer get any sound in
the animated cutscenes. I also don't get any subtitles in them, which makes me
wonder if it's a sound regression at all, or if the problem is somewhere else.
Everywhere else in the game the sound is still working fine, just as before.
Unfortunately I've been unable to figure out exactly when it broke. I tried
regression testing, but most of the snapshots between 20030508 and 20030618 were
completely broken for me, as far as Grim Fandango was concerned.
I can provide traces, of course, but they tend to be rather big so I don't want
to attach any right now without being sure of exactly what to trace.

this is harmless, and just a missing feature. you do not need to report FIXME messages.

Summary: unable to load dlls in other than Windows/System
Product: Wine
Version: 20030709
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: bjfowler(a)chanzy.eclipse.co.uk
I have been trying to use WP for win version 6.0, Quattro Pro for windows and
Paradox for windows.
All thes programs have dlls that are not in the Windows/System directory, for
example, with WP for win, loading stops with the error message:
Could not load 'SHWINB20.DLL' required by 'WPWIN60', error=2
This dll is to be found in d:\wpc20. The Wp for win binaries are installed on
drive D: This drive is correctly configured because other programs such as
Agent run without complaint.

In winesetup, it is not possible to save changes in the drive description, such
as the path under 'edit'. It is necessary to delete the old drive description
and add a new one.
Minor annoyance only/

Strange, but this has happened to me before (but not with libXv, a different lib).
Try converting the .a file into a .so file, iirc something like
gcc -shared -o libXv.so.1 libXv.a
should do the trick.
