+ On the off chance that the EDT tag was causing trouble, I tried the last 2 cvs's
+ without it. The one at 15:30:25 works, the one at 15:31:00 differs only in
+ the patch to xlldrv/mouse.c and fails. That's clearly the source of the
+ regression. I have the log generated as Andriy requested and have set it up as
+ an attachement; Note that it's longer than just the last
+ few 100 lines, since the last
+ lines have more to do with the debugger not working rather than the problem.

Both worked (and in fact, I don't think any files were updated with the second
cvs). Are you sure about the times? From, the patch URL mentioned below it looks
like the time was supposed to be EST, not EDT. Please confirm and I will retry

+ | DESCRIPTION |
+ Hallo,
+
+ many application packages for the design and programming of programmable
+ electronic chips (PLD,CPLD and FPGA) contain as one tool Synplicity Synplify.
+ These tools are protected with FLEXLM. For downloadable Demos, a node locked
+ license for the serial number of the C: drive may be obtained.
+
+ Synplify doesn't recognize the license in that context.
+
+ In my understanding:
+ - no access to sentinel.vxd(winXX) or rnbodrv.sys (ntxx) is needed, as a
+ parallel installation on vmware works without these tools
+ - synplify has the flexlm library version 5.2 static linked
+
+ I suspected differences in time related functions but none seemed to cause that
+ problem.
+
+ Any hints welcome.
+
+ Package downloadabe are e.g. quickworks from www.quicklogic.com (generates 3 day
+ demo license during install), isplever from www.latticesemi.com ( 1/2 year
+ license has to be requested by mail) and probably more.

Hmm, so can you also identify the open() of handle 7 ?
Rerun strace log file and check which file or device the handle is, then tell us.
