Yes, I can confirm this.  As of the most recent update (27th January?) pressing
Tab kills TF2.  I think also that TF2 dies when the associated end-of-round
player state screen comes up (this is identical to the screen summoned by
pressing Tab).

I have reported this in game as a bug, but hey, I guess it's really a Wine
issue.
