The game has a bunch of dependencies : 
d3dx9_36 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25260), 
vcrun2005 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24547), 
xact (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24545).

In current git (1.3.7) and the overrides above, I am able to start the game.
This bug has references to all of these dependencies. I feel that it is unclear
on what it is trying to solve.
