--- Comment #3 from Luca Gugelmann luca.gugelmann@gmail.com 2009-12-10 16:27:09 --- I can confirm this bug(?). It affects "Half-Life 2: Ep 2" and "Portal" on my steam installation. HL2 and HL2: Ep 1 work flawlessly.
It seems to be some weird interaction between wine and something on OpenSUSE 11.2 (the system I am running now). I still have my 11.1 installation lying around and booting into that system with the same home directory (that is, the same steam installation and the same .wine/* (including drive_c) allows me to play those games without problems.
This should rule out a damaged steam installation.
On my 11.1 installation I have Wine 1.1.32, but that seems irrelevant as on 11.2 the problem appears with 1.1.28 (default repo) and 1.1.32, 1.1.33 and 1.1.34 (all from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:/Wine/openSUSE_11.2).
Things that have changed since 11.1 include newer kernel (2.6.31 vs 2.6.27), and newer fglrx 9.11 vs 9.10 although I seem to recall that it didn't work with 9.10 on OpenSUSE 11.2 either, so that might not be it.
I'll try to install some 11.2 packages on my 11.1 installation to see if I can find the piece of software that breaks it, but I won't have much time on my hands before Christmas so it might take a while. Any suggestions on what I should try first?
