Oh great! Do you mind looking at the patch for Sims 2 from https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8051 ? It seems to be the same thing but slightly different, I think. Would really appreciate it!
That bug covers a bunch of different issues, including the software vertex shaders which are (in draft) addressed by the patchset I put here in the previous message. If you are referring your patch there (https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=61321) and that was the one you needed for Sims 2 to work, I think you can leave just the part adding a stub for undocumented shader validator interface (changes in d3d9_main.c), drop everything else from it and use it together with the latest pacthset from here.
