Confirmed as well... only problem is, it's not Wine's bug. I'll agree it's most likely due to the game designers coding for NVidia hardware and having issues with ATI cards down the line. Witnessed equally in Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows XP.
Occurs on Windows = invalid. Game bug.
