Hopefully not another false report (!)- I notice that on certain letters, like the "a" or "d" in Arial 9-12 point, that there is a red fringe on the right of the glyph that is not visibly present in other packages (libXft, qt and cairo) that have freetype's SPR enabled. It is subtle, but appears to happen with any glyph that has a vertical stem on the right side of it.
If I am the only one experiencing this, I will chalk it up to something I am doing incorrectly on my end. I just wanted to report it as I haven't been able to get around it.
