--- Comment #2 from Hans Bergmann hj.bergmann@mail.de --- Thank you for your quick response, Jeremie, I first deinstalled the version I had on board. Then I tried to install a newer wine version now, but so far no success. The MX repository does not offer it, and installing the version 8.0 from PKGS failed with an error message - unfortunately in German, so here is the Deepl translation: --------------------------------------- Note: "wine" is selected instead of "/home/hans/Downloads/wine_8.0~repack-4_all.deb". Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or, if you are using the unstable distribution, that some required packages have not been built yet or have not yet been built or have not yet left Incoming. The following information may help you resolve the situation:
The following packages have unfulfilled dependencies: wine : Depends on: wine64 (>= 8.0~repack-4) or wine32 (>= 8.0~repack-4) Corrupt: libwine (< 5.5-6) but 5.0.3-3 should be installed Corrupted: libwine:i386 (< 5.5-6) but 5.0.3-3 should be installed E: Problems cannot be corrected, you have retained broken packages. ---------------------------------------
The I tried to install it using the instructions and codes found on https://wiki.winehq.org/Debian. But the system still says it is version 6.22:
System information: Wine build: wine-6.22 Platform: i386 (WOW64) Version: Windows 8 Host system: Linux Host version: 5.10.0-25-amd64
Still trying to understand that, as I am not a Linux smarty. I will keep you informed.
