Trying to start the demo fails

I couldn't even start the demo: it pops up 2 message boxes, shown in the
screenshot and this is the only console message:

fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x33f9f8) using GetSystemInfo()

This was not present in the full game. Maybe someone more experienced can pass
through this error in the demo.
