I just applied the patch against 1.5.10
(9177c088306723d10475839c2fcf56fd30e1b611).

I did not yet play an entire match but at first glance it seems that the patch
fixes the issue at hand.

Thanks a lot for your efforts!! I hope the patch is not likely to break stuff
for other applications, so we can get it merged into mainline... I'm gonna drop
another report here after a couple of matches.
