This patch is better than the previous ones because it is simpler and does not require patching libc. It is also worse than the previous ones because it is more of a hack and moves us further away from a real Windows environment.
So in other words: There are good reasons to have this change in glibc?
If so then: a) would it be good to have this modified by the glibc developers? b) could you maybe mail them? I could offer to do so, but I won't be able to answer any of their questions...
I will stay with the "glibc patch" variant for now as I'm OK with the "separate glibc" approach.
