--- Comment #19 from Terrance currter@gmail.com 2010-02-17 21:47:28 --- I reinstalled Ubuntu Linux (via Windows 7), I followed the steps to install wine 1.1.38 and winetricks dotnet20 and all. I downloaded SlingPlayer version 2.04 and I ran it and it still crashes wine. I get the same error result I described before, a deficiency in wine check http://appdb.winehq.org for tips ... report problem to http://bugs.winehq.org
This crap does not work. Maybe it is my notebook: Dell XPS M1730 64-bit. Back to windows to run SlingPlayer.

I was just following the instructions off the internet to install SlingPlayer after installing Wine. SlingPlayer was the one that installed or attempted to install Microsoft +Net. Also, I thought I attempted to execute winetricks, but the command could not be found. The problem with this is that there are hundreds of ways people say to do things on the internet and nothing seems to be standardized with Linux out there to do things and installs properly. It becomes very confusing.
Currently dotnet runtime should be installed separately to avoid problems. To use winetricks you should obviously download this script first and set execution permission to run it. This is trivial if you are familiar with basic Linux environment. If you aren't please use Wine Forum or wine-users mail list for quick support.
