Normally, the folks who run Wine as root do it out of ignorance, and we try to guide them to safer practices before helping them with their problem.
Doing 'sudo wine ...' can screw up your ~/.wine directory such that it can't be used as yourself anymore, because it is contaminated with files owned by root. Recovering requires a chown -R or removing .wine and letting wine recreate it.
If you want to keep running wine as root for no reason, go ahead, but I can't bring myself to help you in that case, sorry.
