[Bug 23553] Problem Starting up Steam on Deus Ex games

According to the steam appdb page:

Steam Community In-Game does not work - disable or it will cause all games to
crash.

This bug states if you don't enable this it won't start. If you do enable it,
it will crash just after starting. No where on the steam appdb page does it
mention what special version of gcc to use. Where is this info coming from?
According to the appdb page for steam I did a correct install. I have many
steam games, and This is the only one that doesn't launch.
