I am all in favor of an update to the Ubuntu-specific font patch :) If the dependencies of the package need to be adjusted to pull in other fonts that can be done as well.
Hi Scott, could you add these two lines to debian/patches/CJK-registry the next time you update the Ubuntu-specific font patch? --- snip --- HKCU,Software\Wine\Fonts\Replacements,"SimSun",,"WenQuanYi Micro Hei" HKCU,Software\Wine\Fonts\Replacements,"PMingLiU",,"WenQuanYi Micro Hei" --- snip --- SimSun is for Simplified Chinese, I've tested this replacement setting in upstream wine with lots Simplified Chinese software, most works well and all known issues are reported to wine bugzilla; PMingLiU is for Traditional Chinese, I've test this replacement setting in upstream wine with some Traditional Chinese software, also all known issues are reported.
However, I haven't test these setting with Ubuntu Wine package yet, I'm not sure if the SystemLink registry keys are still necessary in Ubuntu Wine package, since we already have a good auto generated SystemLink in Wine 1.4. (With known issues, such as Bug 29851 )
Regards!
