I cannot specifically comment on this.  I had to reinstall that wine prefix
years ago, and was unable to get it working with vanilla wine and just running
the installer directly.  I wound up using Lutris [1] out of frustration (and it
did "just work").

The situation may have improved since that (but I have not checked).
