It's not easy to do this right.

How 'bout the users who want this start a
campaign to donate $5K or so to the Wine Party Fund,
with the stipulation that it be used to fix this
bug?  That would let Alexandre devote a week 
nonstop to integrating and testing the bugfix,
which might do the trick.  (I think he's going to
hate me for suggesting it :-)
