With no native dlls, 
wine demos.exe skinnedragdoll.dll
in a window crashes like this:

partially implemented

not implemented.
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x4102d5
(thread 0009), starting debugger...

Doing 'winetricks d3dx9' gets further, to the "press N" prompt, but then
still crashes with

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x0000003e in 32-bit code
(0x00431c10).
