Bug #: 30431 Summary: Recovering HOWTOs from Re-Volt AppDB Entry Product: WineHQ Apps Database Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: appdb-unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: hougaard.junior@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Hello,
My name is Bastian and I am a Super Maintainer of the application 'Re-Volt'. I somehow managed to remove all HOWTOs written by myself in the process of merging two version entries for this application. Asking on #winehq led me here, and I am now requesting a recovery of these HOWTOs. From what I have been told, Codeweavers keep backups of the wine application database. The HOWTOs got removed April the 14th just a few hours ago.
Here is some background:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3151
There is quite many sub-versions of Re-Volt 1.20 due to unofficial patches being released every 3rd month. Since a previous version becomes obsolete once a new version is released, me and Super Maintainer Luke has agreed to keep a version entry named "1.20" for older versions and keep one separate entry for the latest patch released, as suggested in the maintainer guidelines.
A new version of Re-Volt was released the 7th April 2012 named "1.2a12.0405". The previous version entry "1.2a12.0107" therefore had to be merged with version entry "1.20". I moved all test entries, one by one, from "1.2a12.0107" to "1.20". The version entry "1.2a12.0107" was thereafter deleted.
When I started as Super Maintainer I wrote 3 HOWTOs. These HOWTOs was created at the page of version entry "1.2a12.0107" but was set to be displayed at version "1.0", "1.10" and "1.20" too. Deleting version entry "1.2a12.0107" also deleted the HOWTOs because I was unaware that the HOWTOs was dependent on this version entry. I am not sure I understand why it is either when the HOWTOs was supposed to be shared across several versions of Re-Volt. Is this intended by design? Anyway, if these can be recovered I would be very pleased.
Best Regards, Bastian
