Hardware has to be controlled through the host system; if you don't know how to do that, ask for help on your distro's support forum.
The installer crash may be a valid bug, but you are going to have to provide more information, including your Wine version and which driver CD this is (name of company/model of computer). You also need to attach a copy of the full console output, including the backtrace.
