I was using wine-1.1.43, dont know where you get I was with version 1.0.1.
Will try the new version (1.1.44) to see if its fixed.
I'm confusing bugs, nethertheless, try with a clean wineprefix (WINEPREFIX=$HOME/wine-tmp wine installer). I'm pretty positive this bug does not happen in vanilla wine.
