It took a while, but I managed to pinpoint the commit that fixes this bug in
wine-staging-1.7.48.
Here is the relevant patch:

It means this bug is most probably a duplicate of #8854 and #34559.

Thanks to slackner who guided me on #wine-staging (freenode) through the
process of hunting down this patch ;)
