Mesa drivers are broken for these patches. Try with a nivdia card and proprietary drivers.
I tried current git (wine-1.7.53-183-g12111d8) wine with:
a) no patch : Results in partially visible 3D characters/objects as shown above.
b) patches 1 & 2 from your link : Results in no visible 3D characters/objects.
c) patches 1 & 2 and 3 from your link : Results same as b.
No difference in terminal output.
My hardware is Nvidia GTX970 with proprietary drivers 352.41.
