Also, the problem in comment 10 was fixed with the following:
mv .wine .winebackup
cd /Applications/Darwine/Wine.bundle/bin
notepad (to create new .wine)
winetricks fakeie6 mdac28 jet40

At this point all of the needed software is installed

To install .NET 1.1 requires more steps which are described in bug 10134.
