I believe this is a dupe of bug #19566. It affects many if not all games created with the RPGMaker tool. These games store resources in a compressed file (.rgssad) and they usually make it encrypted when creating the game in RPGMaker. There are tools out there intended to uncompress such .rgssad archives, and the game indeed can be started in Wine after unpacking the archive. These tools have questionable legal status however.
Demos exist for these games, including To the Moon, but they usually contain an additional protection layer: the game executable is packed/protected with Armadillo. This could interfere with Wine when testing. To the Moon from the Indie Bundle is DRM free, only RGSS102E.dll is packed with ASPack v 2.12 (don't know if that affects anything)
