Created attachment 36612 [details] Terminal output wine 1.3.29
I don't know if my problem is related with this bug, but for me Rome Total War installs fine, then hangs at start with the attached output in terminal.
Tested with clean prefix and wine 1.3.29
Does it help if you disable multisampling in Wine's registry? I also have a problem starting Rome:TW with Wine >1.3.26. The game crashes with a
err:seh:setup_exception_record stack overflow 832 bytes in thread 0009 eip 681ea57d esp 00230ff0 stack 0x230000-0x231000-0x330000
message in the terminal. Disabling multisampling in Wine resolved that problem. If this applies to you as well, then yes, this is a different problem.
As for the originally reported problem, the game still crashes in 1.3.29, when it tries to play the first intro video. Disabling winegstreamer.dll in the libraries tab worked around the crash for me.
