Assuming that log is complete, update_desktop_fullscreen() certainly isn't adding any decorations, it's only setting _NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN, which should already be set at that point anyway. I suppose there's a small chance the MWM hints are confusing the window manager, but those also should have been there before. Does the attached patch make any difference? Also, what window manager are you actually using?
No change in behavior at all. I use Compiz-0.8.8.
