Summary: Fake Internet Explorer information missing from registry Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: rmuncrief@comcast.net
I checked out todays git and when I tried to install Gecko it just appeared. I figured it had been downloaded when I executed wineprefixcreate because it took a few minutes to execute instead of a few seconds.
However, when I started my normal install procedure things started failing, and I discovered it was because all the fake Internet Explorer information was missing from the registry. Specifically msxml4 and .NET 2.0 crashed immediately when I tried to install them so I figured there wasn't any use in continuing. Many programs need to be faked into thinking IE is installed or they won't install.
So it looks like the auto-Gecko download isn't entering the fake IE6 stuff when installing. That is, if I'm correct is assuming Gecko is now auto downloaded. In any case, all the IE stuff is missing in the registry for some reason.
