If I may add a comment, I wasn't the only one to have this bug on Wine, after the Ubuntu update : here is a forum (from ArtRage website) where I posted my first "help" messages http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9291 It seems that 3 other guys experienced the same bug (except me = Bozo). Other people might have experienced the same bug without expressing themselves.
I think the only way to replay the bug is to reinstall Ubuntu Feisty, then replay the update to Gutsy and see what lacks in Wine ! ok, it needs a dedicated machine :-) not so easy.

It may be worth to ask the deb creators whether they have SONAME_LIBXI defined in config.h. Sounds like they don't have a libXi.so symlink.
