@Austin, sorry my post was not clear at all. The self extracting exe could not
be extracted using any 3rd party tool I knew, so I thought I give wine a try.

In fact wine does the correct thing, and extracted files are simply be found in
%TMP%, as reported: http://superuser.com/a/832861/106444
