Wine Is Not an Emulator. It's not a virtual machine either - it's a translation
layer for Win32 API.

IMO this bug should be resolved this way: upon discovering new associations,
Wine should show a configuration window where you can selectively propagate
these associations to your Linux host. If I'm not mistaken CrossOver Office
already behaves this way.
