After reading through this bug I'm fairly sure it's got something to do with the x86_64 architecture. As far as I can tell everyone who reported the bug is using x86_64. I'm also getting this bug on x86_64 with both the fglrx- and the radeon-driver. Weird: I get the libGL-error-messages, and the menu screen has corruption, but performance seems to be good (can play fluently) and in-game there seems to be no corruption. Wine-version is 1.1.0 (no patch was applied).
Well, I'm running 32-bit version of Fedora, so it's probably not connected with it. The only way to get rid of it for me is to use unlimited stack size, but this causes random lock-ups for me without any wine or fglrx errors in console. The game just freezes and I have absolutely no idea where do they come from. The only sure thing is that lock-ups happen only when using ulimit. Anyway, the 8.8 fglrx drivers are coming soon and I hope AMD developers will manage to fix it.
