Therefore no old files are present. Also an installation of the new packages automatically replaces/removes all old versions. The patches get applied at build time, something I can see by simply looking at the build logs. But you shouldn't forget that: a) I'm using a different GPU for these tests, b) what Stefan pointed out earlier, that this quirk might not work for the FOSS driver, and c) even though the r300 through r500 drivers share a lot of code, not every part is the same. So this quirk might help you but not necessarily me.
