Can you edit dlls/wined3d/directx.c: Right at the beginning, there is a table
containing opengl extensions. Can you comment out or remove the line
GL_ARB_texture_rectangle, recompile and see if that makes the game fast?

Not too long ago this extension got added to wine but on some cards it might be
emulated.
