Could you please run a bissect search between .37 and .38 (
http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting ) ?
I'm currently (and for 2 weeks) away from the machine on which I had the
problem, so I cannot confirm it worked in .37, nor do the bissect search.

Also, please try to produce the same trace files as I did (especially the
strace one) to check if the symptoms are really identical.
