James: With the patch applied I do not get the same error any longer. However I
get another error message. I've attached the +msi log of the output.
It does not go as far as the native msi dlls (which still fails later on).

For testing this, you need to grab the sources and find product.wxs, not the
examples shipped with the binary distribution, which seems to be out of date.
