No, I don't have a patch that is ready. I have an old (but bisectable) patchset
that just cleanly removes the resample-not-in-mixer case on my home laptop
(writing this from work, will get there in about 8 hours). Will work on it as
soon as I arrive home.

As for not duplicating work - I think it is better for both of us to duplicate
work rather than waste time waiting for each other.
