Unfortunately when ATI dropped support for my GPU I had to find a workaround:
namely selling that laptop and never buying another device with ATI graphics. 
Which means I no longer have a system on which to test this issue.

When you say "Still need the regression test..." what do you mean?  Comment 4
has the results of the regression test showing exactly which commit started the
problem.
