Wine-staging 2.4 is the latest release on Ubuntu.
I copied a backup of my .wine directory from 12/12/2016. Still using the same
version of wine-staging 2.4 and the error/bug nolonger exists. So clearly it is
an issue with something in the .wine directory and not wine code itself.
I can send the version of this good .wine directory if anybody is interested in
comparing it to my last .wine attachment.

I concider this item as closed.
