[Bug 16279] Menu shortcuts are created in the wrong place and desktop shortcuts are missing

I'm still on Ubuntu 8.10 but using the WineHQ repos, so I've just tested again
on 1.1.25.

Yep, that's there.  Other shortcuts have been created ok.

Loads of shortcuts I didn't know existed.  Deleted them and tried again.
The correct shortcuts are created in
/home/test/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs but they are not shown in
Applications-->Wine, and still appear in "Other".  The .desktop files are also
recreated in /home/test/.local/share/desktop-directories/.

I can't see how this is a Wine bug, as it seems to be doing what it is supposed
to, and it's likely to be something in Ubuntu or the WM.

Would anyone be able to confirm one way or another?
