Works fine here.

When you still can't get a virtual desktop, please reopen and attach a log.

WINEDEBUG=+process,+tid,+explorer wine <yourapp.exe> 2>&1 | tee log.txt

You can also use explorer to create a named desktop.
Example:
wine explorer /desktop=myname,1024x768 winemine
