[Bug 9519] Adobe Reader 8.1 (and Acrobat Pro 8): Unable to accept License ( window.external object)

I attempted to download the trial version of Acrobat Pro 8 from the adobe web
site listed here:

After registering and procedding to download the program, Adobe gives me an
error message saying I need to first download and install the Adobe Download
Manager, which uses either ActiveX, Java, or both (not clear). I can't seem to
find a stand-alone link to download this program anywhere. Without it installed
and working, Adobe won't let you download the trial version.
