$ sha1sum SpotifyFullSetup.exe 52231a66aa9d77b5ac8e8fc88c5c9f32b87aaec5 SpotifyFullSetup.exe
$ du -sh SpotifyFullSetup.exe 46M SpotifyFullSetup.exe
That's the installer I used, downloaded from http://download.spotify.com/SpotifyFullSetup.exe. The version reported in Settings, About Spotify is 1.0.19.106.gb8a7150f.
My original test was with 1.8-rc3. I just did two clean installs with 1.8-rc4, one to a 32 bit wineprefix and one to a 64 bit one. In both cases Spotify installed without any problem, has a visible login screen, and I can login, browse, and stream music. In the 64 bit prefix, when I play a track, Spotify briefly pops up a message saying it can't play the track, then proceeds to play it anyway, but I think that's a separate issue.
One thing I did notice that may be relevant to this bug is that while nothing crashes on my system when I click the upper right close button, SpotifyWebHelper.exe remains running in the background. That in itself isn't a Wine bug, though; I tested the same version of Spotify in an XP VM, and SpotifyWebHelper.exe remains running there, too, after clicking the close button.
I am on openSUSE 13.1, Nvidia GT630, 346.35 driver.
