I guess there`s some kind of vague issue on your side?
An other French user has the same issue than me. On Debian, if i set en_US only for general local (dpkg-reconfigure locales), it works. If fr_FR.utf-8 or fr_FR.utf-8+en_US.utf-8, it crash in the both case.
