However a second bug is exposed. If 24 bits are set, either by simply hacking the 24-bit switch as per the earlier comment or by the amendments I've just described, text in some dialogs is invisible. I'll try running regression tests to determine whether this shows up in an earlier patch.
This is weird. Every test back to the first patch after 0.9.51 threw up the invisible text bug and the description of the first patch doesn't seem a likely source of the bug. I then checked out 9.51 (which is what I have installed as the working version from a .deb download from winehq) and built that. The locally built version shows the problem, the installed version doesn't. It appears that the invisible text is an artefact of my local build environment.
