--- Comment #5 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
adding stable download via Internet Archive for documentation.
https://web.archive.org/web/20110711111842/http://audacity.googlecode.com/fi...
$ sha1sum audacity-win-1.2.6.exe e2eb75ff817281dd8e21a3933ec0ebab9d0cd712 audacity-win-1.2.6.exe
$ du -sh audacity-win-1.2.6.exe 2.2M audacity-win-1.2.6.exe
The audacity project hosting at sourceforge.net is another example to never trust those services. This includes github (assets) as well.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/
--- quote --- Audacity is no longer at SourceForge.
Audacity can be downloaded via AudacityTeam website instead: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/ --- quote ---
old: https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/files/ (gone) new: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ (pre 2.x releases cut off)
During project migration they dropped most older versions. If no third-party mirrors and/or archive.org snapshots exist those old releases are gone.
Always create snapshots immediately if none exists, regardless if it's old or new software. archive.org might be gone one day as well (like all things) but it's the best thing we currently have.
