--- Comment #34 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2012-02-18 01:26:19 CST --- Still present in Wine-1.4-rc4. Native msvcrt.dll is still a workaround.
The linked demo version can be used to reproduce the problem. Please bear in mind that the crash doesn't happen each time you enter or finish a battle (seems to happen randomly). When the crash does happen, it always occurs during the loading screens.
Following these steps it seems the crash is always reproducible on my system:
1. Install the demo. The game needs native d3dx9_36.dll 2. Launch the demo with kb.exe. In the menu choose <New game>, click on <Next>, then skip the cinematic. 3. When the game is loaded, left-click on the knight standing in front of you. In the dialog choose the second sentence: <I will refuse the Test and rely on your choice>. Finish the conversation clicking on the remaining two sentences. 4. Left-click on the chest behind the knight and grab the Training Sword. 5. Go to the lower part of the screen where a portal is. Enter the portal which leads you to the main game. A loading screen is displayed and the crash happens here. The game either quits unexpectedly, or it hangs with the loading screen. Whichever occurs, the terminal output always ends with
